The 1996 Corvette Collector’s Edition was produced to celebrate the final year of the fourth-generation (C4) Corvette, marking the end of a design era that began in 1984. Being unique to any C4 with Sebring Silver paint, special 5-spoke wheels, and unique badging signified both exclusivity and a tribute to the model’s 12 year C4 production run, GM created it to honor loyal Corvette enthusiasts, boost excitement in the market before the C5 launch, and provide a collectible, limited-production version that would hold long-term historical and enthusiast value, while simultaneously increasing sales with a tribute edition.
