The Grand Sport name in Corvettes originates from a special high-performance racing version of the Corvette that was first developed in 1963 by Corvette’s chief engineer, Zora Arkus-Duntov. Duntov is a famous engineer in Corvtte history that was responsible for the Corvette running as a competitor in international racing, particularly against Ferrari and Shelby Cobra. To achieve this, he secretly built five lightweight, race-ready Grand Sport Corvettes, each equipped with a 550-horsepower 377 cubic-inch aluminum V8. However, Chevrolet ultimately canceled the program due to GM’s corporate ban on factory-backed racing (aimed at preventing street racing in the United States). Despite this setback, the five Grand Sport Corvettes that had already been produced went on to race privately, as the Corvette product line tried to move away from it’s image as a Bad Boy street racing vehicle.
This 2013 Grand Sport comes fully equipped with Torch Red on Ebony Leather with all the goodies to include the 4LT Premium Option Package, Navigation Bose Stereo System, Automatic Transmission, Removable Body Colored Top, J6C Silver Calipers, and the Grand Sport GM 5 Spoke Chrome Wheels!
