The 1981 Corvette holds a unique place in the Corvette history as the only year production was split between two factories—St. Louis, and Bowling Green, Kentucky plant. This transitional year also marked the first use of a computer-controlled carburetor (CCC) system for better fuel efficiency and emissions control. It was the last Corvette to use a carbureted engine, before the 1982 models switched to fuel injection, making it a notable end of an era for Corvette Collectors and enthusiasts. Collectors are drawn to the 1981 model for its historical significance, the factory changeover, and its blend of late C3 styling with early signs of modern Corvette engineering.
