Meet Charles of Corvette Warehouse

meet Charles

Meet Charles, one of our newest additions to our sales team here at Corvette Warehouse!

Arcadia La

From Arcadia, Louisiana, Charles grew up 10 minutes away from Grambling State University. An avid basketball player, he graduated high school in 1997 and moved out to Dallas, TX where he entered the workforce. He got his start in retail grocery working his way up to manager of Sac and Save. His next endeavor was Frito Lay where a friend told him that he could come run the route truck which is exactly what he did. Unfortunately, this resulted in a freak accident one day where he severely injured his knee. Though he had been working, he was also continuing to play basketball with the hopes of making it a career. This one event altered his life in a major way, as at that time, he was newly married with new baby. He received short term disability which had begun to run out.  After speaking with another buddy who worked in the car business, he told him, "If you can come to the dealership, and if you can limp across the parking lot, ill teach you how to sell cars!" Charles jumped at the opportunity, even with a hurt leg and in his first month, sold 14 and half cars at Don Davis Nissan and never looked back.

Charles says that his passion when it comes to car sales is finance and getting people approved. He gets energized from people receiving second chances, people who think they wouldn't be able to get approved. He so much enjoys helping them figure out how to put it all together. From his exact words, ”Thats what I love the most… There are people in cars today and before working wit me, they thought they wouldn’t get into that car. I just love helping people...because everybody that comes to the dealership are in situations that they're trying to get out of. It’s my job to help them figure it out.”

Charles recalls a time during his first week at Corvette Warehouse where an older gentleman walked in, unassuming, and said, "You may not be able to help me, but you have a certain Corvette I’m interested in, there’s two in the Metroplex. I’d like to look at them, but I don’t want to waste your time- I’m on a fixed income. But, I'm retiring in two weeks and I always wanted to get a Corvette when I retire."

They sit down and talk, and Charles shows him the key and some paperwork.  The man says, "This is just a little more than what I was thinking it would be."

Charles said to the man, "Let’s think about it this way: Who do you bank with?"

The man said he banked with Navy Federal which was surprising to Charles who stated that him and his wife also banked with Navy Federal because his brother is in the military. After submitting with Navy Fed, Charles got him a better rate, the payment that the man wanted and that very next Tuesday, the man picked up his dreamcar, a LimeRock Green Convertible C7 Chevrolet Corvette! He thought he wouldn’t get it because of the payment but Charles made his dream come true.

Most people don’t know that Charles is a drummer who has played in country bands, which his favorite music genre is indeed country. He found his love of country from his childhood bus driver back in Arcadia, Miss Holland, who played country music when she picked up and dropped off the kids. Charles loves to play poker, still plays basketball Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and recently went through a body transformation after prioritizing his health to be here for his family. He got lucky and has 4 girls age 4 - 25 years old and is a happily married man.
