The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition is one of the most interesting and collectible Corvettes of the C7 era, not because it’s faster than every other Z06, but because it’s a very limited, race-inspired homage (1/140 Produced) that bridges production car capability and Corvette Racing heritage. Chevrolet created it to honor the C7.R endurance racing program, which competed successfully in events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 12 Hours of Sebring. The C7.R Edition isn’t just a graphics package, it was a deliberately limited, fully optioned Z06 built with every available option on the market that year the most aggressive performance gear offered that year with the Z07 Package.

Built on a C7 Z06 platform: a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V-8 making 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, paired with either the 8-speed automatic and backed by the Z07 Performance Package. That package includes adjustable aerodynamic components, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and gripping that turns this Corvette into a serious track weapon as well as a street car. But what makes the C7.R Edition unique are the thoughtful race-inspired details: a visible carbon-fiber hood and ground effects, black wheels with yellow accent stripes and Corvette Racing center caps, yellow brake calipers, Spectra Gray vents, a suede and leather interior with yellow contrast stitching, and a numbered limited-edition plaque.

Chevrolet originally announced a build of 500 C7.R Editions for the U.S. market, all in 3LZ trim and all equipped with the Z07 track kit. 150 of them were sent overseas and 350 remained in the U.S. These cars were offered in just two exterior colors: Corvette Racing Yellow Tintcoat and Black, both with coordinated accents that echo the livery and spirit of the C7.R race cars. 360 were produced in yellow and only 140 Black examples were produced, underscoring how scarce the black color truly is.

From a collector’s standpoint, this car checks all the boxes: limited production, racing heritage, maximum performance spec straight from the factory, and strong visual identity tied to Corvette’s motorsport success. The fact that the very first C7.R Edition (VIN 001) sold at a charity auction for around $500,000 years ago speaks volumes to its appeal beyond just horsepower, it’s a piece of Corvette history that resonates with enthusiasts, racers, and collectors alike. The Vin on this Corvette Z06 is 470. That means it was the 470th Corvette produced that year and the 470/600 C7.R's that were produced.
